Driving Instructor Training in Sussex
To become an Approved Driving Instructor, you need to take a series of examinations with the Driving Standards Agency ( the government body who conduct the ‘learner tests’). As the DSA only examine and do not train, we at L Plates will give you all of the training needed to pass the exams.
Training is flexible, so to fit in around your current job and commitments and takes as long or as little time as you want it to. After qualifying, you will be in great demand, as there is currently a shortage of good driving instructors. We can place you with a local or national driving school of your choice or even help you set up your own driving school, if that is what you decide.
ORDIT
We are an ORDIT training provider, which means that we have been entered onto the 'Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers' after undergoing a college inspection and assessments of our trainers' every two years by the Driving Standards Agency. Jo Chapman - our principle trainer, who has been training potential driving instructors for over 10 years, currently holds straight 6s on both Check Test and ORDIT assessments, this means that she has achieved the highest possible grade in all competences assessed by the Driving Standards Agency, this possibly making her the only trainer in the country to hold both these accolades. We are yet to find another trainer who does so. Jo, has passed the Cardington Special Test at grade A, is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and holds the IAM F1RST in advanced driving and is the Chairman of the Motor Schools Association(GB) for the South East region. In addition to this, she has passed the City & Guilds level 4 certificate in further education teaching.
Jo, also delivers Speed Awareness Courses for East & West Sussex County Councils and has vast experience in teaching learners and advanced drivers and is always happy to offer advice based on her own experiences. |

At L Plates, we will plan training sessions to maximize your progress, and by planning yourself with the aid of your training materials, you can help accelerate your learning process.
We all learn at different rates, some people will be able to complete the course within a few sessions, others take a lot more. The important thing is the quality of teaching.

Some instructor training organizations only train to a standard acceptable to just pass the tests. Although that might seem acceptable to some, we don't think it is. Although by passing the tests, you will indeed be a qualified driving instructor, you may not necessarily have the tools to teach real learners in the real world. We are committed to training you to a standard that not only will you pass with a high grade, but also be fully prepared to confidently work as a qualified driving instructor.
