Just wanted to say that since passing my test with Penny Powell, I’ve been driving around to jobs I'd never have got to without her help. I have been driving since 1994 - but I needed to secure a GB license and pass my practical test. Mark Napier definitely helped me in doing so. He taught me to drive in such a way that I am within the requirements of the DSA. I learned from him what is required of me, and how I can be a safer driver. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor than Lloyd Carey and I want to say a huge thank you!!!!!! He was patient, very friendly and he organised my lessons really well so I improved and felt more confident each time. The lessons were always fun and we had a laugh, even when I went wrong. Thank you so much. Mark Napier, my instructor is a really nice guy with a lot of patience but also a laugh and for me made it fun to learn how to drive. Debbie Vaughan made learning to drive a great experience. I was I very nervous driver at first and Debbie made me feel relaxed and more and more confident with every lesson. She is extremely patient and if I was unsure of anything she would talk it through with me and allow me to go over things I felt I needed work on. Most of all she made every single lesson fun and a complete pleasure. Dave Mercer was able to make the challenge of learning to drive enjoyable and uncomplicated. I have had other instructors in the past but found Dave's high and exacting standards very reassuring in what is quite a stressful process. Dave has the skill of all good teachers in that he recognises your individual strengths and weaknesses and tailors his instructions accordingly. Dave's main concern was to teach me to drive as well as I could rather than just teach me to pass the test. As a result I found my test fairly straightforward and surprisingly enjoyable as Dave had ensured I was equipped to pass first time. He did this without dragging out the number of lessons I needed meaning I was also able to pass fairly quickly. Finally, I found Dave to be a very likeable, warm and friendly person who made me feel at ease and comfortable for every lesson and I couldn't recommend him highly enough. Joe Powell. Hastings.
I had been looking forward to learning to drive for a very long time and was desperate to learn as quickly as possible. My instructor Debbie Vaughan was very patient and encouraging but made sure to enforce that she was teaching me to drive for life not just to pass a test. Taking the test was a very stressful experience for me and one that I would not have been able to cope with without her support and tissues! Jim Eckford was my second driving instructor. With the first one (privately found, not an L Plates instructor) I had two or three driving practice lessons full of screams and horror. Then I contacted Jim. Almost immediately, I received his friendly and informative reply and appointed the first session. What a difference it was compared to my previous experience! Nice, soft, friendly and highly professional guidance helped me to overcome the problems I had in the beginning. We had a lot of training sessions, and I must say every single one of them were both a pleasure and useful experience that eventually helped to pass my driving test. Jim is a very kind and friendly person and, at the same time, a great professional who knows exactly how to prepare his pupils for the driving test.
So my advice: don't waste time on random "driving instructors", call Jim and pass your driving test. Thanks to L Plates for bringing together those who need to pass their
driving tests and those who know how to prepare them for it.

I had a great time learning with Debbie Vaughan, she was friendly and a very good teacher. The lessons were relaxed and didn't feel like lessons, yet she still taught me what I needed to know. I feel that her teaching not only gave me the skills to drive but she gave me the confidence to drive by myself after I passed. Jim Eckford was a great driving instructor, if there was a particular area that I wanted more practise on he would always make sure the particular area was covered until I became confident. Jim was always very positive and put me at ease whilst driving. When I passed I received a photo and L Plates

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Jim Eckford for helping me pass my driving test first time. I have used a different driving school in the past but even after many lessons, never felt comfortable to take my test. Jim was so patient and a really great teacher. After a few lessons and a lot of really effective tuition Jim increased my confidence and had me ready for my Test. I was really nervous on the day but Jim really helped put me at ease. I couldn't have done it without him and my new found independence is all thanks to Jim. He even gave me photos and a certificate the next day. I would recommend Jim to anyone and simply can't thank him enough. If you're learning to drive in his area, he is your man!

Katherine Campbell from Eastbourne said "learning to drive was something I never thought I was capable of doing, eventhe thought of it used to scare me. I assumed that i would be a bad driver or that it would about ten years to accomplish! So my driving instructor would have to be phenomenally good to pass me (as well as have the patience of a saint and the ability to calm me when I am hyperventilating over the clutch!) The minute I stepped in to the car, John put me at ease and most importantly made me laugh, which in turn enabled me to relax and woth each lesson I grew in confidence, as John made me realise that I might actually have a shot at this. I had a lot of large gaps between lessons due to caring for my terminally ill mother, but I never felt pressure from my instructor during our lessons ,he did not get annoyed or impatient with me in fact his ability to remain calm in any situation my driving put us in(and often make me laugh at the same time ) meant that I actually managed to pass in under a year which is nothing short of a miracle!
I would recommend L-Plates to anyone who is considering learning to drive, because if I can pass then anyone can!"
