Driving Instructor Training - The Course
Once you have been accepted on to the course, you will begin a structured training program as part of a small friendly team.
Train around your current job and family commitments. Courses are flexible to accommodate students of all abilities.
All the way through you will be supported by our highly skilled team of trainers, who are totally committed to your success. Even when studying from home, there is always someone on the end of the phone, to offer help and advice.
Course Details
Our training program is designed to give you all the knowledge and understanding to become an Approved Driving Instructor, in conjunction with the requirements needed to pass the Driving Standards Agency's three part examination. You pass each before taking the next.
Remember, we will train you to become a driving instructor, and not just how to pass the 3 examinations. The training we will give you will be enough to give you the knowledge and confidence to become a top grade Instructor.
Part 1
Theory and Hazard Perception Test.
The Theory Test..
Takes place at a Driving Standards Agency examination centre, usually in a major town or city
Consists of 100 computer based multiple choice questions on subjects arranged into four bands, which are;
a) Road Procedure
b) Traffic Signs and Signals, Car Control, Pedestrians, Mechanical Knowledge
c) Driving Test, Disabilities, Law
d) Publications, Instructional Techniques
The Hazard Perception Test..
This will follow on after the 100 multiple choice questions,
Its a computer based test which comprises of a selection of 14 video clips, each lasting 1 minute, showing real road scenes and developing hazards.
Candidates are assessed on how soon they spot the developing hazard.
Part 2
The Practical Test of Driving Ability.
The Test..
A driving, mechanical knowledge and eyesight test conducted by a Driving Standards Agency Supervising Examiner. The test can be conducted at a test centre local to your home and is approximately one hour long. You are expected to drive in a business like, disciplined manner along a varied route showing your ability to manoeuvre and control the car safely.
Part 3
The Practical Test of your Ability to Teach.
The Test..
The test is designed to assess the quality of the instruction you give and your ability to communicate at an appropriate level with your pupils. The test will last approximately one hour and be split into two parts where the examiner will role play two separate pupils. You will teach the examiner whilst in the car. You will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge and ability by giving practical tuition to the examiner.
